SEWELL Co-ordinator’s Report December 2017

Ian Sewell By Ian Sewell

I have continued to work on all the data I have inherited from our previous Sewell Research Co-ordinator, Diana Kennedy. In the last few months I have added all the data I have acquired in my own research to the trees in various counties. I am now starting to look at all the paper records and I have been working to either put them in digital format or just update them with the links to the computer data. It has become clear to me that many of our records have been built from the IGI and I really should go through that and update this information but at about nineteen thousand records its daunting task to undertake!
Since last journal I am pleased to welcome back David Sewell whose family comes from Halstead, Essex (chart number ESShlsZ). The furthest we have back on this chart is Charles Sewell who married Caroline Sharp in 1828 in Halstead. Unfortunately it seems that Charles was not originally from this parish as we can’t find any birth record for him in the area.
Welcome also to new member Margaret Smith who is descended from Mary Anne Sewell (Sowell) from Hertfordshire, (HRTcotA) who married John Neale in 1830. We are currently working to see what extra details we can fill in on the family.
