Ancestry – A subscription website with enormous amounts of information. Take care when looking at member’s family trees as many have errors – always verify information yourself from source documents such as certificates of birth, marriage and deaths. Ancestry also offer a good paid for DNA links service

City of London – Guildhall Library has numerous biographical and genealogical sources, particularly for former inhabitants of the City of London, including an extensive range of family history and local history journals.

Cyndi’s List of Genealogy Sites on the Internet – An enormous site with information on just about every aspect ofGenealogy

Federation of Family History Societies – A good UK based site. The ‘Help with Research section’ is recommended.

The National Archives – Over 37 million records of which 9 million are available for download including Medals, Wills Royal Naval Service Records, RAF Combat Reports, Royal Marines Service Record, and more

Roots Database – A huge USsearchable database of research interests

Scottish Research – Contains around 37 million names.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints – You can now search their huge database online.

Gen UKI – UK and Ireland Genealogy – A tremendous UK site with masses of information and excellent links.
