A British Family History Society researching SOLE, SAUL, SEWELL, SOLLEY and similar names
More Sewell Data

As part of the work I am doing to update the Sewell information I thought I would give you an over view of the data that we have. We have at the moment 12 Gedcoms covering the whole country, though this will change slightly as I have a few changes to make such as merging the gedcom for Norfolk and Norwich. These files cover 35 counties and contain a total of 22,260 individuals of which 15,134 are names of interest. Each one now has a unique number made up from the County Code, Parish Code and a sequential number of the first confirmed record for that tree. The top 5 names are in the table opposite, with other variants making up the rest. The variants are primarily in specific counties: Saywell in Kent, Cambridgeshire & Essex, Seawall in Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire & Northamptonshire and Sewall in Warwickshire, Essex & Durham The breakdown by county is not surprising with the top five counties being Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk, Northants and Cumberland. However, I feel that once I have complete the 1881 census Cumberland and Durham will move up. The total number of trees by county is shown below. Unsurprisingly given the number of names in Essex the two largest trees come from Essex, though LINfroA (a tree from Lincolnshire) is a surprisingly large tree.
