Lurgashall Mill

This is a photo of Lurgashall Mill which is at the Weald and Downland  Living Museum in Sussex which my husband and I visited this summer. There is also a medieval house from Sole Street, Kent at the museum.

Sole Street was suggested as a possible source for the surname Sole by Don Steel in his articles in this journal. There are three hamlets called Sole Street in the county which he felt were possible sources for the surname but unfortunately I didn’t record which one this house came from. There are  Sole connections to Lurgashall although none to the mill.

If you are in the area, the museum is fascinating as it contains old buildings moved from Sussex and the areas around.
