John Edward Soles 1862 - 1929

John Edward SOLES was born in Aston, Birmingham, England, and was the son of John SOLES (1831 - 1906) and Anna Maria HOLLINS. John married twice: firstly to Fanny Reevers (died 1886) and then to Emily Brigden by whom he had 4 children. John was a butcher and is seen here outside his shop which stood on the A5 at Wilnecote, near Tamworth. It was demolished a few years ago as part of a road widening scheme. Pictured with John are two of his sons, Jack (born 1890 in Kings Norton, Birmingham) and Norman (born 1909 in Wilnecote, Staffordshire, died 1961 in Glasgow, aged 52 years), both of whom also became butchers.
