John Soles (1831-1906) 

and his wife Ann Maria (1832-1906)

John Soles married Ann Maria Hollins at St Philip's, Birmingham in 1851 and they had 5 children (four sons and a daughter) between 1852 and 1862. John was baptised at Deritend and Bordesley on 4th September 1831, the son of William Soles and Mary Ann Orpin. John spent most of his working life as a wire drawer, though he is also recorded as being a hardware dealer in an 1871 Birmingham directory, and at the time of his death, a coal merchant. These photographs are copies of large family portraits believed to have been made in 1890. For further information contact:
