John Frederick Sole 1923 - 1975

The first photo was taken during the Second World War when he served as an able seaman on motor torpedo boats, mostly in the Mediterranean. The family group was taken in 1950 or 1951. John and his sisters were the fifth generation of SOLES to be born in Hackney, London but Hackney parish records show that the family originally came from Therfield in Hertfordshire.
