Helena Clark nee Sole

Sheila McInnes has kindly provided these photos of her grandmother, Helena CLARK nee SOLE.

Helena was born in 1879 at Budock, Falmouth, Cornwall the daughter of George and Elizabeth Ann (HALL nee PELLOWE) SOLE, one of our larger Sussex families.  She married John CLARK, a stoker mechanic in the Merchant Navy, in 1901 at Sittingbourne, Kent and they had four children of whom Gwyneth Eileen Lisette was the mother of our member Sheila McInnes.

The following photo shows Frederick William with his second wife Clara (formerly COPELAND nee PERKINS) SOLE with some of the children from Frederick's first marriage to Elizabeth ANDREW.

Frederick was born in 1876 at Budock, Devon the son of George and Elizabeth Ann (formerly HALL nee PELLOWE) and the brother of Helena. He was a stonemason. He married Elizabeth in 1873 and had 5 children. Elizabeth died in 1906 and he married Clara in 1907 at Tavistock. In 1908 they emigrated to the USA where Frederick died in Barre, Vermont during 1936
