[a] 6th July 1857. Letter of application from Edward Sewell of 30, Nicholas St, St Peters Rd, Mile End, considered for the position of Beadle. Edward Sewell attracted 7 votes , the same number as the other candidate. Offered the position at £24 p.a. after getting the casting vote of the Master.

[b] 10th April 1865. George Sewell of Clapham Rise, elected Assistant Warden.

"Indictment of George Sewell of Plaistow Ward in West Ham, Yeoman, from the 27th September to the date hereof, viz 4th October at Plaistow carried on the trade of a badger, lader, higher, kidder, or carrier, without licence." Acquitted.
