James William 1888-1969 & Jessie Adelaide 1890-1969 (nee GORE) SOLE. James was born in Ramsgate, Kent, the third child of John and Rebecca (nee THURSTIN) SOLE. He and Jessie were married in 1912 and both died within four months of each other. James served in the Inland Water Transport Corps of the Royal Engineers during WW1.

James Lester SOLE 1912 - 2004 was the eldest child of James William and Jessie.  He married Grace Evelyn BUBB (1912-1993) in Ramsgate in 1937.  He served in the RAF during WW2 at home and abroad and on retirement he and Grace emigrated to New Zealand to join their children.  His very full life has been serialised in our Journal, (Aug 2003-Aug 2004).
