Charles Leslie SOLE (1890-1968) and Blanche Amy (Rose) (nee STURMAN) (1898-1980) taken in 1965.

Charles Leslie SOLE (1890-1968) and Blanche Amy (Rose) (nee STURMAN) (1898-1980) taken in 1965. They are the parents of members Jacqueline Houghton and her sister Peggy Capelin. Charles served in the army from 1910 as a private, was appointed to a commission in 1916 and rose to the rank of Captain; he resigned his commission in 1919. He subsequently was a commercial traveller and later was the Commissionaire at the Tivoli Cinema in Eastbourne. He was born, married Rose in 1928 and spent most of his life in Eastbourne but had moved to Stevenage by the time of his death in 1968.

Charles Frederick SOLE (1854-1927) situated in the back row middle, was a great uncle of Jacqueline and Peggy and the Great Grandfather of member (lapsed) Hilary Hale. He was born, married to Ellen Annie BURT (1878) and died in Southwick in Sussex. He was an active member of the Methodist Church and served on the Southwick Council. The photo is Southwick Council in 1906
