Editor: According to ‘A life of John Colet, D.D., dean of St. Paul's, and founder of St. Paul's school’, by Joseph Hirst Lupton Dean John Colet encouraged ‘the Carmelite, John Sowle who died in1508 and was buried in the convent of the White Friars. As it is recorded that [Sowle] was a ‘great esteemer of St Paul,’ leaving behind him a number of sermons on the apostle’s writings and was moreover very intimate with Colet, it is probable, though not actually so stated, that his preaching was heard in St. Pauls [Cathedral].’
