The following is the obituary of J.W. Solley as it appeared in The Arab Tribune, on November 24, 1999, kindly submitted to us by Edward Solley:
J.W. Solley, Farmer, Carpenter
J.W. Solley, 86, of Arab died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at his residence. Mr. Solley was born Oct. 24, 1913, in Winston County to William Sterling Solley and "Lida" Louise Ophelia Pochantus Buckhannan. He was married to the former Thelma Screws for 66 years.
He was a farmer and carpenter and member of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by his Wife: Thelma Solley of Arab; son: Beamon Solley of Blountsville; four daughters: Glynell Davis, Vickie Yarbrough, Brenda Harper and Jan Faircloth of Arab; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church, with Kenneth Hester, Max Roden and Clarence Coker officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery, with Area Memorial Chapel directing.
Pallbearers were Michael Solley, James Solley, Jonathan Solley, Shane Davis, Allen Coker, Jason Coker and Cory Yarbrough.
Flower girls were Shelly Rolin, Angela Haymon, Annette Monk, Brandi Yarbrough and Teresa Gilbreath.
