From Jennie Saul: Saul's of Great Yarmouth.
Evening everyone...my name is Jennie Saul and my family tree goes back to the Saul's of Great Yarmouth (and the timber merchants there). I have some information from a great uncle ...My Great Grandfather was Charles Lepard Saul born Oct 1871 died 1950 married to Ella Crane (who died of cancer) he then married the housekeeper Grace Rix. Charles was in the timber business and had four children, one of them, Joyce was my Grandma.
If anyone has any info or pictures of those involved in the Norfolk timber business please get in touch...I have more info than listed here but didn't want to harp on to much. It's nice knowing that there are lots more Saul's in the world. I've always liked the name and knowing its heritage makes me feel even better!
From ravisole: Indian Connection.
Hello, my name Sole Ravi Kumar (23). I was told that we were migrated form Maharashtra or Bangalore (presently in Andhra Pradesh , India). I am a Christian. I was always confused about my surname. It is nice to know about name Sole. Appreciate your work.
My grandfather served in Indian army and later worked as a librarian (also worked cultivation) but died young. I shall start my research and update it soon.
From Lorraine Saul Stacker: Saul arrivals in New Zealand.
Below is a listing of Sauls who arrived in Auckland New
Zealand ports. I am interested in Thomas Saul who arrived in 1865. Hoping he
might be my lost Thomas Saul from Cawston. I cannot identify any of these
people. I particularly like the reference for Miss L M Saul, a British tourist!
The following information came from the wonderful databases that are now available from Auckland City Library.

From Ian Sewell: Cockney Northerner.
My dad was a WWII evacuee from Hackney in the east end. He was sent to Batley in the west riding where he met my, now late, mum. They married in 1951 and I was born in 1954; my brother, Kevin, was born in 1956. Up to 19 years ago I lived in Batley, then my, now ex-, wife and 2 children moved to Scarborough.
My dad's name is Thomas William Sewell and so was his dad. Would love to know if there is anyone out there who might have known him or the family.I do know snippets of information but would like to delve deeper.
From Ian Robertson: George Solly d.1874/5
I am a descendant through my mother of George Solly, latterly of Ash - he was my great great grandfather. He was a brother of the first wife of John Mourilyan of Sandwich and then of Paris.
There were some fairly major financial problems between the two somewhere about 1850, when John Mourilyan left in a hurry for Paris and the Sollys seem to have lost a lot of money. At least that was the gist of the story from my mother. Does any know anything about this? Incidentally, John Mourilyan was a first cousin to my great great grandfather Thomas Coleman of Ash.
From Duncan Sole: Sole in London & Sussex
Looking for any information of my grandfather, great grandfather and great grandfather- father was Derrick Sole, born 1927 in Cedars Road, Chiswick, London, son of Stanley Dowell Sole & Edna Ida Sole (Nee Carr Hall?).
Stanley Sole, my grandfather, played football and cricket for Kings College about 1920 at the age of 15-16? and also cricket for Ashford Cricket Club in about 1922, so reckon he was born about 1905. I have a gap in records then to a 1904 copy of a 1868 birth record passed down to me from my father Derrick Sole of Edward James Sole birth on 2nd March 1868 at Lock Road, Albion Street, Southwick, Sussex, son of Charles Sole & Sarah Sole (nee Allcorn) - the occupation of Charles Sole is listed as Wharfinger Journeyman! - any help would be appreciated. Thanks
