Epitaph - Richard Sewell
By Pat & Mike Sewell
This article was originally published in the November 1997 edition of Soul Search, the journal of The Sole Society.
While taking a round-about journey home from the Sole Society gathering, we came across this epitaph in the south aisle of Norwich Cathedral:
In the Cloisters of this
Cathedral lies the body of
Richard Sewell
who faithfully discharged the duties
of Dean's Verger for 41 years
and died respected and regretted
June 14th 1855 aged 86 years.
This stone bears testimony to the
Integrity, Diligence and Consistency
displayed in his long life
