News has reached us from Australia of another, hitherto unknown, SOLES family and once again it looks as if it goes back to SOLE, or in this case to SOUL.

A Mrs. Marjorie Roper of Canberra has given us information about the ancestry of her son­in‑law Mr. Brett King. Mr King's grandmother, Gladys Trewhella Soles, was the great‑grand‑daughter of a Thomas Soles, born Eastleach Martin, Glos, about 1808‑9. His children were baptised at nearby Fyfield.

Thomas and his wife and family emigrated to New South Wales in the 1850s.
