SOLLEY Co-ordinator's Report April 2004

By Bob Solly

Welcome to new member Peter Scott, who has contributed research relating to Susannah who was born in 1786. We are adding his information to our records. He has provided a new family to build upon, where Isaac Solly married Rebecca Peake in 1775 and provided ten children.

We have had contact from an Australian Solly (Robert Henry) who emigrated from Hull in 1870 – apparently they ran a fish shop there. I don’t have any more details, please let me know if you have any connection.

Jonica Kelly wrote from Maryland. You may recall that we have a substantial amount of information, supplied by our US members about the families there. In fact there is a village names Solley south of Baltimore. I have been able to supply information, but if anyone knows anything more about a marriage (of a Solley) to Archibald Johnson we would be pleased to hear from you.

I have just receive another e-mail from Mary Solley in Maryland asking much the same information – I must get them to talk to each other!

We also welcome another new member Jim Solley from Canada (British Columbia).

Lynne Burlingham has supplied details of a Percy Solly, a teacher in Ramsgate. Let me know if you want further details.

Finally Nicholas McNair is offering to provide a very substantial tree starting at Isaac Solly and Elizabeth Neal with about 650 individuals (compared with our records of 170) – this will involve a fair amount of work – any volunteers?
